How this site is written and checked

AI tools help us draft. People check the facts against official sources, and every page shows its sources and the date it was last checked.

This page explains how the pages on Japan Pocket Guide are made, so that you can decide how much to trust them.

How pages are made

Pages are drafted with the help of AI tools and then checked by the site operator against official and primary sources: government ministries and agencies, the Japan National Tourism Organization, prefectural tourism offices, transport operators and published statistics. Each guide lists the sources it was checked against at the bottom of the page and shows the date it was last checked.

What we do not do

Dates matter

Prices, opening hours, rules and timetables in Japan change, often in April and October. The "last checked" date on each page tells you when its facts were last compared with the source. Before you rely on a price, a fare or a rule for something important, please open the linked official source and confirm it.

Photos

Photographs come from Wikimedia Commons and are used under free licences (Creative Commons or public domain). Each photo is credited where it appears and on the Photo credits page.

Corrections

If you find an error, please tell us through the Contact page. We correct mistakes, note what changed, and update the "last checked" date.
