Ghibli Park tickets: how to buy them from overseas, Premium or Standard, what they cost and when they go on sale
Ghibli Park, in Aichi Prefecture near Nagoya, sells no tickets at its gates. Every visitor needs a day pass bought online for one date, and each month of passes goes on sale at a single moment two months ahead. This guide sets out the two passes sold to visitors from overseas and what each one lets you into, the prices on weekdays and at weekends, when passes for visits up to June 2027 go on sale in London, New York, Los Angeles and Sydney time, and the days the park is closed (14 days in December 2026). It also covers the same-day tickets for three buildings in Valley of Witches, the rules on names and ID, what you can see without a ticket, and how to get there. Every price, time and rule below comes from the park's official English pages, read on 14 and 15 October 2026, and each page is listed under Sources at the end.

In short
Ghibli Park tickets are sold in advance only, online, and none are sold at the park. From overseas there are two official sellers, Lawson Ticket and Klook, and two day passes. The Premium pass opens all five areas and the buildings inside them, for 7,300 yen per adult on weekdays and 7,800 yen at weekends and on holidays. The Standard pass opens three areas (Ghibli's Grand Warehouse, Mononoke Village and Valley of Witches) for 3,300 or 3,800 yen. Children aged 4 to 12 pay half, and children aged 3 and under are free. Passes go on sale at 14:00 Japan time on the 10th, two months before the month of your visit, so January 2027 goes on sale on Tuesday 10 November 2026. Tickets cannot be changed or refunded.
How to buy Ghibli Park tickets
The park's English ticket page is short on the main rule: "*Please note that park tickets cannot be purchased at any area of Ghibli Park." There is no ticket window at the gates and no queue for same-day passes. If you arrive without a ticket, you can walk around the free parts of the surrounding park, which are covered further down, but you cannot go into any of the five Ghibli areas.
For people buying from outside Japan, the same page names two sellers:
- Lawson Ticket. The online ticket service of Lawson, one of Japan's big convenience-store chains. The park's ticket page links to its sales pages for buyers from overseas.
- Klook. An online booking company for travel and activities, which the park lists next to Lawson Ticket as an official seller.
Use the links on the park's own ticket page to reach either seller, so that you know you are on the right sales page. People who live in Japan buy from a different set of pages, and some ticket types are sold in Japan only; those are mentioned below so that you are not puzzled when you see them.
There is no phone sale. The ticket page says so in plain words: "*Ticket reservations/purchases cannot be made over the phone." The park does run an enquiry line in English and six other languages, and its number is on the ticket page.
Ghibli Park is not the Ghibli Museum
This is the mistake the park itself warns about first. The top of its ticket page reads: "This is a ticket page for Ghibli PARK in Aichi, not for Ghibli MUSEUM, Mitaka (Tokyo). Ghibli Park tickets are not valid at Ghibli Museum, Mitaka, and vice versa."
The two are in different cities (Tokyo and Nagoya are about 100 minutes apart by Shinkansen), and they sell tickets on different days at different times. If the place you want is the small museum in Tokyo, our Ghibli Museum tickets guide has its prices, sale dates and closed days.
Premium or Standard: which Ghibli Park ticket to buy
Both passes are called O-Sanpo Day Passes. O-sanpo is Japanese for a stroll. The difference is how many of the five areas you can enter.
| Premium | Standard | |
|---|---|---|
| Ghibli's Grand Warehouse | ✅ | ✅ |
| Mononoke Village | ✅ | ✅ |
| Valley of Witches | ✅ | ✅ |
| Hill of Youth | ✅ | ❌ |
| Dondoko Forest | ✅ | ❌ |
| Okino Residence, Howl's Castle and The House of Witches (inside Valley of Witches) | ✅ included | Same-day ticket at the park, limited in number |
| World Emporium (Hill of Youth) and Satsuki and Mei's House (Dondoko Forest) | ✅ | ❌ |
| Re-entry | To every area (Ghibli's Grand Warehouse after 15:00 only) | Valley of Witches only |
| Adult price, weekday | 7,300 yen | 3,300 yen |
The park's own descriptions are worth reading because they say who each pass is for. For Premium: "If you're in the mood for gluttony, this all-access pass is for you." For Standard: "If you don't know where to start, this pass is the one for you."
Which pass suits you?
- Premium: you want to stand inside Satsuki and Mei's House from My Neighbor Totoro, the World Emporium antique shop from Whisper of the Heart, or Howl's Castle, and you do not want to queue for a same-day ticket on the morning of your visit.
- Standard: you have one day, children with you or a tighter budget, and the big indoor warehouse, the village from Princess Mononoke and the witches' town are enough.
What is in each of the five areas
The park's "What is Ghibli Park?" page describes the five areas like this.
The five areas
- Ghibli's Grand Warehouse (both passes): an indoor building with exhibitions, play areas, a 170-seat cinema showing Studio Ghibli short films, a café and the park's largest shop.
- Mononoke Village (both passes): Tatara-ba from Princess Mononoke, a slide shaped like Lord Okkoto, and a workshop where you grill gohei-mochi rice cakes over charcoal.
- Valley of Witches (both passes): buildings from Kiki's Delivery Service, Howl's Moving Castle and Earwig and the Witch, with shops, restaurants and two rides.
- Hill of Youth (Premium only): the World Emporium and the roundabout from Whisper of the Heart, the Cat Bureau from The Cat Returns and the elevator tower.
- Dondoko Forest (Premium only): Satsuki and Mei's House from My Neighbor Totoro, and a hilltop with a tall wooden play structure for children aged 12 and under.

The price gap, worked out
With a Standard pass you can still go inside the three buildings in Valley of Witches, one by one, if you get a same-day ticket for each at the park. For one adult on a weekday:
| Premium | Standard plus all three same-day tickets | |
|---|---|---|
| Pass | 7,300 yen | 3,300 yen |
| Okino Residence | Included | 400 yen |
| Howl's Castle | Included | 1,000 yen |
| The House of Witches | Included | 400 yen |
| Total | 7,300 yen | 5,100 yen |
So the 2,200 yen between the two buys Hill of Youth, Dondoko Forest, the two houses inside them, re-entry to every area, and freedom from the same-day ticket queue, which can sell out. If you would only ever use Standard plus one building, the gap is bigger, at 3,000 yen or more.
How much are Ghibli Park tickets?
The prices on the park's English ticket page, checked on 15 October 2026. They include tax.
| Pass | Adults, weekday | Adults, weekend or holiday | Children 4 to 12, weekday | Children 4 to 12, weekend or holiday |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| O-Sanpo Day Pass Premium | 7,300 yen | 7,800 yen | 3,650 yen | 3,900 yen |
| O-Sanpo Day Pass Standard | 3,300 yen | 3,800 yen | 1,650 yen | 1,900 yen |
Three notes from the same page:
- Children aged 0 to 3 are free, and the page adds that they "should not be counted as a member in the party". You do not buy a ticket for them.
- A service charge is added on top: "In addition to admission, a service charge will be applied when tickets are issued." The page does not give the amount, so look at the total on the sales page before you pay.
- No discounts. "*Discounted tickets are not available, including for groups or early booking." The one exception is half price for a visitor with a disability certificate and one companion; show the certificate (or a photocopy) and your passport at the entrance.
Weekend prices also apply on Japanese public holidays. Several fall on weekdays in the months ahead, and the park's calendar marks them with weekend opening hours: Tuesday 3 November and Monday 23 November 2026, Monday 11 January, Thursday 11 February, Tuesday 23 February and Monday 22 March 2027. Our Japanese public holidays page lists the rest.
What a family pays
Tickets are priced in yen only, and this site does not quote exchange rates. For two adults, a 10-year-old and a 5-year-old:
Two adults and two children, before the service charge
- 9,900 yenStandard on a weekday (11,400 yen at a weekend)
- 21,900 yenPremium on a weekday (23,400 yen at a weekend)
A child aged 3 or under with the same family would add nothing. Bring the passport of the person whose name is on the tickets; the ID rules are further down.
When do Ghibli Park tickets go on sale?
Two months before the month of your visit, on the 10th, at 14:00 Japan time. The park's ticket page gives the same line for both passes: "This pass goes on sale two months in advance, on the 10th at 2 p.m. (Japan time)". Every open day of a month is released together, so a visit on 2 January and a visit on 30 January both go on sale at the same moment on 10 November.
Japan Standard Time is nine hours ahead of UTC all year, because Japan does not change its clocks. Your own country may change its clocks, so the gap moves by an hour in spring. The table gives the on-sale moment for each month of visit in four cities.
| Month of your visit | On sale (Japan time, 14:00) | London | New York | Los Angeles | Sydney |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| January 2027 | Tue 10 Nov 2026 | 05:00 Tue 10 Nov | 00:00 Tue 10 Nov | 21:00 Mon 9 Nov | 16:00 Tue 10 Nov |

The local times were worked out for this guide from the official clock-change dates for the UK, the United States and New South Wales, which are listed in the sources. Midnight in New York means the very start of the 10th, so set the alarm for the night of the 9th. Passes for December 2026 went on sale on Saturday 10 October 2026.
The ticket page also warns: "The dates tickets go on sale and sale periods are subject to change." Check it again a few days before your sale date.
Getting ready for the sale
- A week before: read the calendar, choose your date and a second choice, and decide Premium or Standard. Have every visitor's age ready.
- At the sale time: go to the seller through the park's ticket page and choose the date, the pass, the entry time for Ghibli's Grand Warehouse and the number of tickets. Check the total with the service charge before you pay.
How far in advance can you buy?
Between about 7 and 12 weeks. Because a whole month is released two months ahead, a pass for 1 January 2027 goes on sale 52 days before the visit and a pass for 31 January 82 days before. There is no earlier sale for visitors from overseas, so if your trip is six months away, the job for now is to note the right 10th. The tours with tickets included, covered further down, keep their own booking calendars.
Closed days and opening hours
Most of Ghibli Park's closed days are Tuesdays. When a Tuesday is a public holiday, the park's calendar shows it open and the Wednesday after it closed instead. It also shuts for a run of days at the start of December and over the New Year. The table was counted from the park's English calendar on 15 October 2026.
| Month | Closed | Open days |
|---|---|---|
| November 2026 | Wednesday 4, Tuesdays 10 and 17, Monday 30 | 26 |
| December 2026 | 1 to 8, Tuesdays 15 and 22, then 28 to 31 | 17 |
| January 2027 | 1 to 3, Tuesdays 5, 12, 19 and 26 | 24 |
| February 2027 | Tuesdays 2, 9 and 16, Wednesday 24 | 24 |
| March 2027 | Tuesdays 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30 | 26 |
In what is left of October 2026, the park is closed on Tuesdays 20 and 27. Two Tuesdays in the table are open: 3 November 2026 and 23 February 2027, which are both public holidays, and Tuesday 24 November 2026 is open too, with Monday 30 November closed instead.
Opening hours
Opening hours
- 10:00 to 17:00weekdays
- 9:00 to 17:00weekends and public holidays
The last entry to each area, except Ghibli's Grand Warehouse, is 16:30. A public holiday on a weekday has the weekend hours and the weekend price, as listed in the price section above. The calendar adds that "Dates and hours of operation are subject to change and will be posted."
If your dates touch a Japanese public holiday, our holiday calendar shows which days those are.
On the day: entry times, wristbands and re-entry
Your pass is an electronic ticket with a QR code. Only one area has a fixed entry time, and it is the one both passes share.
Ghibli's Grand Warehouse has a set entry time
When you buy, you choose one of these entry times for the warehouse:
Entry times for Ghibli's Grand Warehouse
- 9:00weekend and holiday opening days only
- 10:00
- 11:00
- 12:00
- 13:00
- 14:00
The rule for that slot is strict: "Please enter Ghibli's Grand Warehouse no later than one hour after your reservation time. Early entry is not allowed." The other areas take visitors at any time from opening until the last entry at 16:30.
Premium: the wristband
With a Premium pass, staff scan your QR code at the first area you visit and give you a wristband. From then on you show the wristband at each area. Three rules matter:
Premium wristband rules
- At your first area, and at Ghibli's Grand Warehouse, the whole party must be present and enter with the person whose name is on the tickets. At the warehouse you show the QR code, not the wristband.
- After that, people in the party can go into the other areas on their own with their wristbands, and come back again.
- "Wristband pickup must be completed by 12:00 p.m. on the day of your visit." Plan your first area for the morning.
Re-entry is allowed for every area, with one limit: "Re-entry to Ghibli's Grand Warehouse is available after 3:00 p.m. only."
Standard: three areas, one way back in
With a Standard pass, you enter Mononoke Village and Valley of Witches with your whole party at any time between opening and 16:30, and you may have to queue if others are waiting. The ticket page is brief on re-entry: "*Re-entry is possible only for Valley of Witches."
When the areas are busiest
The park's waiting-time page says that "*Hill of Youth is expected to be crowded after 3:00 p.m." and that Dondoko Forest is the same. The ticket page adds: "Especially, Hill of Youth and Dondoko Forest are expected to be very crowded after 4:00 p.m. until closing time (5:00 p.m.)." With a Premium pass, go to those two areas in the morning or early afternoon, and leave the warehouse, which you can re-enter after 15:00, for later in the day. The same page notes that the bakery in Valley of Witches may close when everything has sold out.
Same-day tickets for Valley of Witches
Three buildings in Valley of Witches need an extra ticket if you hold a Standard pass: Okino Residence from Kiki's Delivery Service, Howl's Castle, and The House of Witches from Earwig and the Witch. Premium holders go in without one. These are the only tickets of any kind sold inside the park.
How the same-day tickets work
- Get an Exchange Voucher: at 10:00 on weekdays (9:00 at weekends and on holidays), vouchers are handed out for each building near the Ticket Truck in Valley of Witches. Each voucher shows a sale time.
- First come, first served: vouchers with the earliest sale times go first, and the number is limited.
- Buy the ticket: at the Ticket Truck, from the time on your voucher until 16:30.
Since 1 July 2026, the voucher has been required for every same-day ticket. The prices, with no service charge added:
| Building | Adults | Children 4 to 12 |
|---|---|---|
| Okino Residence | 400 yen | 200 yen |
| Howl's Castle | 1,000 yen | 500 yen |
| The House of Witches | 400 yen | 200 yen |
Activities that cost extra on both passes
The grilled gohei-mochi workshop at Tatara-ba in Mononoke Village (for ages 10 and over), the Carousel and the Flying Machine in Valley of Witches are paid for separately, whichever pass you hold. Lord Okkoto, the walking trail in Dondoko Forest, the Carousel and the Flying Machine may stop in the rain. The Cat Bus Room and Children's Town in the warehouse, and Dondoko-do in Dondoko Forest, are for children aged 12 and under.
The rules on names, ID, changes and resale
This is where Ghibli Park is stricter than most attractions. The rules below are all on its English ticket page and in its FAQ.
The page is also clear about resale sites: "*Visitors whose tickets appear to have been purchased through auction (or other unofficial means) will be denied entry." Buy from Lawson Ticket, Klook or a tour that includes tickets, and nowhere else.
The FAQ adds one exception to "no refunds": if the park has to close because of the weather, it will consider a refund and post a notice. Tickets that are lost, damaged or stolen are not reissued.
Ticket types you will see but cannot buy
The park's FAQ also mentions area tickets and a Satoyama Day Pass, each marked "domestic purchase only". If a search result shows one of those, it is not open to you from overseas. The two O-Sanpo Day Passes above are the passes for visitors from abroad.
Tours and hotel plans with tickets included
If you would rather not deal with the sale on the 10th, the park's ticket page points to plans that include a pass: "Convenient tickets that include accommodation within Aichi Prefecture are available for purchase through JTB, Viator, KKday, and other travel agencies that offer Sunrise Tours JTB."
On 15 October 2026, the Ghibli page of JTB's Sunrise Tours listed these kinds of plans:
JTB Sunrise Tours plans for Ghibli Park
- 2-day plan: a night in Nagoya and a Premium pass for the second day.
- 1-day bus tour from Nagoya: a guided tour with a Standard pass.
- Shinkansen plan: non-reserved Shinkansen seats from Tokyo or Osaka, round trip or one way, with a pass.
- Half-day walking tour from Nagoya: a guided walk with a Standard pass.
Tour prices and dates change, and this guide does not list them. These plans are booked on the tour company's own pages and calendars, not on the 10th.
What you can see without a ticket
The five Ghibli areas sit inside a much larger public park, Expo 2005 Aichi Commemorative Park, the site of the 2005 World Expo in Aichi. The park's page on it is clear: "No tickets or entry fees are required for Expo 2005 Aichi Commemorative Park." So if you are in Nagoya on a day you have no pass, or the sale has gone, these are still open to you.
Ghibli things in the free park
- Rotunda Kazegaoka: at the North Entrance, by the station. A café and a shop, with a wooden model of the Savoia S-21 seaplane from Porco Rosso. Open 10:00 to 18:00 (café last orders 17:00). There is a convenience store at the North Gate too.
- Benches: benches around the park with objects that look like the belongings of Ghibli characters.
- Cat Castle Playground: a playground based on the Cat King's castle from The Cat Returns, near Mononoke Village.
- APM Cat Bus: a small slow vehicle between Mononoke Village and Dondoko Forest. 1,000 yen one way for adults, 500 yen for children aged 4 to 12.
- Toromon Gate: a two-storey gate moved from an old Nagoya restaurant, between the warehouse and Dondoko Forest, which the park says "is reminiscent of the world of Spirited Away".
- Valley of Witches Scenic Lookout: "Even if you don't have a ticket to Ghibli park, you can look out over Valley of Witches." There is a fee at weekends, on holidays and on some weekdays in school holidays; most weekdays are free.

Ghibli Park or the Ghibli Museum?
If you can only do one, the difference is mostly about where you are. The Ghibli Museum is one building in Mitaka, west Tokyo; Ghibli Park is a day out across a large park near Nagoya. The museum sells a month of tickets on the 10th of the month before at 10:00 Japan time; the park sells on the 10th two months before at 14:00. Neither sells tickets at the door, and the tickets do not work at the other. Our Ghibli Museum tickets guide covers the museum, and our Japan for anime fans guide shows where both fit in a wider trip.
How to get to Ghibli Park
Ghibli Park is in Nagakute, a city east of Nagoya, not in Tokyo. The park's directions page has one line for the train: "Take Linimo (Aichi Rapid Transit Co., Ltd Tobu Kyuryo Line) to Ai-Chikyuhaku Kinen Koen. The park is just outside the station from Exit 2."
From Nagoya Station by train
- Nagoya Station: take the Higashiyama subway line to Fujigaoka
- Fujigaoka: change to the Linimo line
- Ai-Chikyuhaku Kinen Koen: leave by Exit 2 for the park
JTB's Sunrise Tours page gives the whole trip as "Approx. 1 hour from Nagoya Station (via Higashiyama Subway Line and Tobu Kyuryo Line (Linimo))". Linimo's own fare table puts the Linimo part at 400 yen for adults and 200 yen for children from Fujigaoka. From Tokyo, the same JTB page says Nagoya is "about 100 min from JR Tokyo Station via Nozomi Shinkansen and about 50 min from JR Shin-Osaka Station". Our Shinkansen tickets guide covers that leg.

Other ways in
- Bus from Nagoya Station: Meitetsu runs buses from the Meitetsu Bus Center to the park, 9 a day on weekdays and 10 at weekends and on holidays. Some of them take no cash. Check the times on the park's directions page.
- From Chubu Centrair airport: the directions page says buses run from the airport to the park as well.
- By car: "There is no parking lot designated for Ghibli Park." Use the train.
Walking distances inside the park
The areas are spread out, and you walk between them on paths through the wider park. The distances from the park's FAQ:
| From Ai-Chikyuhaku Kinen Koen Station to | About |
|---|---|
| Hill of Youth | 300 m |
| Ghibli's Grand Warehouse | 400 m |
| Mononoke Village | 800 m |
| Valley of Witches | 800 m |
| Dondoko Forest | 1,000 m (via Rinsyo Kaen Garden) or 1,300 m (via the West Entrance path) |
From the warehouse it is about 200 m to Hill of Youth, 400 m to Valley of Witches, 600 m to Mononoke Village and 550 to 850 m to Dondoko Forest. A Premium day that covers all five areas adds up to a few kilometres on foot, and the park's FAQ tells visitors to wear good walking shoes.
Rules inside: bags, photos, food and payment
The FAQ also covers the weather: in summer, which it counts as May to mid-October, take care against heatstroke, and in winter the temperature can drop below 0°C, with snow on some days.
With children or a wheelchair
Nappy-changing tables are in every area, and the nursing rooms are in Ghibli's Grand Warehouse and Valley of Witches. Pushchairs and wheelchairs can be borrowed at the North Gate and the West Gate. You cannot take a pushchair or an umbrella inside the buildings. Most of the park can be visited in a wheelchair, but parts of Satsuki and Mei's House cannot. The warehouse cinema has some showings a day with Japanese subtitles, and four wheelchair spaces. Our Japan with kids guide has more on travelling with small children.
Frequently asked questions
Can you buy Ghibli Park tickets on the day?
No. Day passes are sold online in advance only, and the ticket page says that "park tickets cannot be purchased at any area of Ghibli Park." The only tickets sold inside are the same-day tickets for three buildings in Valley of Witches, and those are for people who already hold a Standard pass.
Can you enter Ghibli Park without a ticket?
You cannot enter any of the five areas without a pass. You can walk around Expo 2005 Aichi Commemorative Park, which is free, and see Rotunda Kazegaoka, the Cat Castle Playground, the Toromon Gate and the lookout over Valley of Witches.
How do foreigners buy Ghibli Park tickets?
Online, from Lawson Ticket or Klook, using the links on the park's English ticket page. Sales open at 14:00 Japan time on the 10th, two months ahead. Have your passport ready on the day, because the name on the tickets will be checked.
Which Ghibli Park ticket should I buy, Premium or Standard?
Premium, at 7,300 to 7,800 yen for adults, if you want Satsuki and Mei's House, the World Emporium and Howl's Castle without queueing for same-day tickets. Standard, at 3,300 to 3,800 yen, if Ghibli's Grand Warehouse, Mononoke Village and Valley of Witches are enough. Buying Standard plus all three same-day tickets costs 5,100 yen for an adult on a weekday.
Can you refund or change Ghibli Park tickets?
No. Dates, times, ticket types and the number of tickets cannot be changed after booking, and there are no refunds. The FAQ says that if the park has to close because of the weather, it will consider a refund and announce it.
How long should I spend at Ghibli Park?
The park does not give a time. It opens at 10:00 on weekdays and 9:00 at weekends, the last entry to the areas is 16:30, and the warehouse entry times run from 9:00 to 14:00. The areas are up to about a kilometre apart, so allow time for walking. With a Premium pass, see Hill of Youth and Dondoko Forest before 15:00, when they get busy.
Is Ghibli Park in Tokyo?
No. It is in Aichi Prefecture, about an hour from Nagoya Station. The Ghibli Museum is the one in Tokyo, in Mitaka, and it has its own tickets. Our Aichi page has more on the area, and Japan for anime fans shows how both fit in one trip.
