Kirby Café reservations: the 2026 account rules, the three cafés, the menu and what you can do without a booking

Kirby Café is the official café of the Nintendo game series Kirby, run in Japan by Benelic. There are three sit-down cafés, in Tokyo Skytree Town, in Daimaru Shinsaibashi in Osaka and in Canal City Hakata in Fukuoka, plus two takeaway sweet shops and three goods shops that need no booking. Since bookings for August 2026, every reservation needs an account, verified by a phone call, and each person can book each café only three times a month. This guide sets out those rules, the party sizes, the 85-minute time limit, how the three cafés differ, the menu and its prices, and how to get to each one. Everything comes from the official Kirby Café website, which is in Japanese, and was read on 15 October 2026. The pages are listed under Sources at the end.

In short

Kirby Café takes reservations online only, on its official reservation page, and not by phone. From bookings for August 2026, you must first register an account, which means entering your name and phone number and then calling a verification number from that same phone, and each account can book each of the three cafés (Tokyo, Osaka and Hakata) up to three times a month. A booking is for up to 8 people in Tokyo and Hakata and up to 6 in Osaka. Arrive 10 minutes before your time with the booking confirmation email and photo ID for the person who booked. Your table is yours for 85 minutes, including seating and paying, and a booking is cancelled if you are more than 10 minutes late. The website does not publish a fixed rule or time for when each month's bookings open. Without a booking you can still try for a free table, order takeaway at the Tokyo and Hakata cafés, shop at Kirby Café The Store, or buy sweets at Kirby Café PETIT.

How to get a Kirby Café reservation

All three Kirby Cafés take bookings through one official reservation page, linked from each café's page on the Kirby Café website. You choose the café when you log in. The café pages say plainly that a reservation needs an account, and the FAQ says bookings cannot be made by phone, to stop the same seat being booked twice.

The rules changed in summer 2026. A notice dated Wednesday 17 June 2026 says that, to give better service and tighten security, bookings for August 2026 onwards, which opened on Friday 10 July 2026, need an account. Bookings up to 31 July could still be made without one. The notice lists three changes.

What changed for bookings from August 2026

  • An account: you register before you book, and you choose the café when you log in.
  • A My Page: you check and cancel your bookings there.
  • 3️⃣ A monthly limit: up to three bookings a month at each café, with one account per person.

When do Kirby Café reservations open?

The Kirby Café website gives no fixed rule or time for when each month's bookings open. The only date it gives is in the June 2026 notice: bookings for August 2026 opened on Friday 10 July 2026. Nothing on the site, in Japanese or English, says that later months follow the same pattern, so check the café news on the official site before your trip.

What the site does make clear is that tables go quickly. Its English notice on resale, dated Tuesday 1 August 2023, begins: "We sincerely apologize that it has been difficult to make reservations on the Kirby Café reservation page, especially immediately after reservations have started due to the high number of customers accessing the site."

Registering a Kirby Café account

The FAQ sets out the steps. The account is checked by a phone call, so have the phone you register with you.

Registering, step by step

  • Pre-registeron the reservation page with your name, phone number and other details, and agree to the privacy policy. The pre-registration email then explains the phone check.
  • Call to verify. From the phone number you registered, call the dedicated verification line.
  • Log inwith the temporary password in the completion email sent to your registered address, then change the password. Your account is now fully registered.
  • Booka café, date and time, and check that the booking appears under reservation check and cancel on My Page.

If a booking does not show on My Page, the FAQ says it has not been made.

Party size, children and the three-a-month limit

Can you go to Kirby Café without a reservation?

Sometimes. The FAQ says guests with bookings are seated first, and walk-in guests can be seated when there is a free table, but a table is not guaranteed. If you have no booking, you still have four other options.

Kirby Café without a booking

  • Takeaway at the café: at Kirby Café TOKYO and HAKATA, takeaway can be ordered without a reservation. Go in and ask a member of staff. It can take a while when the café is busy.
  • Kirby Café The Store: a goods shop in the same building as each café, in Tokyo, Osaka and Hakata, open to everyone with no booking.
  • Kirby Café PETIT: takeaway sweet shops at Tokyo Station and in Tennoji, Osaka. No booking, first come, first served.
  • Buns and drinks at The Store: in Tokyo and Hakata, The Store sells seasonal steamed buns and four Kirby drinks to take away.

The goods corner inside the café is only for guests who are eating there. The Store, in the same shopping complex, is open to anyone.

Kirby Café Tokyo vs Osaka vs Hakata

The three cafés share most of the menu and the same booking rules, but each has its own hours, party size and a few dishes found nowhere else.

  • One account, three cafés: the limit of three bookings a month applies to each café, so a trip that passes through two cities can include two cafés.

The FAQ notes that new items may be limited to a few per person for a time, and asks guests not to buy goods to resell.

On the day: arriving, 85 minutes and cancelling

The FAQ's rules for the visit are short and strict, so it is worth reading them before you set off.

Before you leave for the café

  • Your booking confirmation email, ready to show on your phone.
  • Photo ID for the person named on the booking. Staff check both at the door.
  • Enough time to reach the café 10 minutes before your slot, waiting in front of it.
  • A plan for the end of your 85 minutes, which include being seated and paying.

To cancel, log in and use reservation check and cancel on My Page, up to the day before your booking. On the day itself, the FAQ asks you to contact the café directly, by phone. The café numbers are on the FAQ page.

Birthdays at Kirby Café

The café has a birthday service. When you book, you choose one of two styles, and the dessert you order on the day comes to the table with a birthday message in chocolate pen.

The birthday service

  • With music: special birthday music plays as the dessert arrives, and the whole café joins in.
  • Without music: the dessert is brought to your table quietly.
  • A birthday coaster: one is given to a guest whose birthday month it is, after showing something with their date of birth on it.
  • Other months: the message and music can be used in any month. Only the coaster is limited to your birthday month.

Kirby Café resale warning

Kirby Café posted an English notice about resold bookings on Tuesday 1 August 2023, and it is still on the café news page. It says: "The transfer or resale of reservations by third parties is strictly prohibited at Kirby Café." It adds that "all reservations, fictitious reservation numbers, and fraudulent reservations obtained by transferring or reselling by a third party will become invalid."

The ID check is how this is enforced: "Kirby Café will check your ID when you visit the store, and if you are not the person who made the reservation, you will not be allowed to enter the store." The café also takes no responsibility "for any problems that may occur when reservations are made through sites other than the official reservation page (resale sites, reservation intermediary sites, etc.)."

In short, a booking bought from someone else will be refused at the door, and paying a service to book for you puts the booking in another person's name. Book for yourself, under your own account, and bring your own ID.

Kirby Café PETIT: sweets with no booking

Kirby Café PETIT is a takeaway sweet shop that grew out of the café, with cakes shaped like the world of Kirby. There are two shops, neither needs a booking, and guests are served in the order they arrive.

Kirby Café vs Pokémon Cafe

Both are character cafés with online-only bookings and a café in the same Osaka department store, so many fans try for both. The rules differ in ways that matter when you plan.

Frequently asked questions

Can you book Kirby Café in English?

The Kirby Café website and its booking rules are in Japanese, apart from a 2023 English notice on resale. Bookings are made online on the official reservation page, with an account checked by a phone call from the number you register.

What time do Kirby Café reservations open?

The website does not publish a fixed day or time. It says only that bookings for August 2026 opened on Friday 10 July 2026. Watch the café news on the official site for later months.

Can you go to Kirby Café without a reservation?

The FAQ does not say. Registration needs a phone number, and you complete it by calling a verification line from that number, so check whether this works with your phone before you count on a booking.

How many people can book at Kirby Café?

Up to 8 people per booking at Kirby Café TOKYO and HAKATA, and up to 6 at OSAKA. Babies under 1 on a lap are not counted, but a baby in a pushchair at the table is.

85 minutes from your booking time, including seating and paying. There are no extensions, even if you arrive late or the café seats you late.

Which is better, Kirby Café Tokyo or Osaka?

Tokyo is open later, takes groups of 8 and has a takeaway menu. Osaka has the most dishes of its own, inspired by Osaka food, but closes at 20:00 and takes 6. The three-a-month limit counts each café separately, so choose the café on your route.
