The Gundam Base Tokyo in 2026: entry lotteries, buying rules, limited Gunpla and the other places to buy Gunpla in Tokyo
The Gundam Base Tokyo is the official Gunpla shop of Bandai Spirits, up on 7F of the DiverCity Tokyo Plaza mall in Odaiba. Gunpla is the everyday Japanese name for Gundam plastic model kits, and by the floor areas the operator lists, this is the largest Gundam Base in Japan. It is also a busy one. On some dates you can only get in through an advance lottery or a web numbered ticket, and every customer is limited to one purchase a day, one of each kit and ten kits in all. This guide covers the hours, how entry works, the buying rules, the shop's limited kits and their prices, the smaller ANNEX two floors down, how Tokyo compares with the other Gundam Base shops in Japan, and where else in Tokyo to buy Gunpla. Everything comes from the official Japanese websites of The Gundam Base, Bandai Hobby and the other shops named, read on Thursday 15 October 2026. The pages are listed under Sources at the end.

In short
The Gundam Base Tokyo is on 7F of DiverCity Tokyo Plaza, Odaiba, a 5-minute walk from Daiba Station on the Yurikamome line and a 3-minute walk from Exit B of Tokyo Teleport Station on the Rinkai Line. In October 2026 it opens 11:00 to 20:00 on weekdays and 10:00 to 21:00 at weekends and on public holidays. On busy dates, which in the second half of October 2026 were Fridays to Sundays, entry is by an advance lottery and web numbered ticket. You apply on the official website in a window that closes on the Sunday before, using an Apple ID or Google account, and you may be asked for photo ID at the door. On other days you can usually walk in. For Gunpla, each person can pay once a day, for one of each kit and no more than ten kits. The smaller Gundam Base Tokyo ANNEX is on the 2nd floor of the same building. The life-size Unicorn Gundam that stood outside came off display on 31 August 2026. Elsewhere in Tokyo, three shops in Akihabara Radio Kaikan sell Gunpla, and a new Gundam Base is planned for Shibuya PARCO from November 2026.
The Gundam Base Tokyo at a glance
What has changed in 2026
If you last read about Odaiba a year or two ago, three things are different.
The Gundam Base Tokyo: three changes in 2026
- No statue: the transforming Unicorn Gundam that stood outside DiverCity Tokyo Plaza was taken off display at the end of August 2026. The shop upstairs is still open. Our anime travel guide has the details and the other Gundam statues in Japan.
- Entry lotteries: the Tokyo shop now runs an advance entry lottery with web numbered tickets on its busiest days, set date by date.
- Two new shops: Bandai Spirits announced in September 2026 a Gundam Base in Shibuya PARCO, due in November 2026, and one in LUCUA South in Umeda, Osaka, due in February 2027.
A fourth change is on the way. A notice dated 26 August 2026 says that Bandai Spirits has been raising the prices of its plastic model kits in stages since April 2025, and that a further list of kits will go up from stock sold in shops in January 2027. The notice lists the kits affected, points to the Bandai Hobby site for details and adds that the shop cannot say when sold-out kits will come back.
The Gundam Base Tokyo: floor, hours and size

The Gundam Base calls itself the official all-round Gunpla facility. Its facility page describes the Tokyo shop as split into four areas where you can shop for kits, build them, look at displays and learn about them, and says it is aimed at everyone from children to adults.
The status page changes often, so treat it as the one to check on the day. On Thursday 15 October 2026 it said you could walk in without waiting. Hours can also change for one-off reasons: on Wednesday 30 September 2026, both Tokyo shops opened only from 11:00 to 19:00 for a stocktake.
The operator's English page for overseas customers is short. It says: "Please check the business status of each store before visiting." It also warns: "*Please note that entry to the store may be restricted due to congestion. In addition, depending on the situation of entry restrictions, you may not be able to enter the store all day."
The Gundam Base Tokyo vs Tokyo ANNEX
DiverCity Tokyo Plaza has two Gundam Base shops. They share an address and the same buying rules, but they are very different in size.
| The Gundam Base Tokyo | The Gundam Base Tokyo ANNEX | |
|---|---|---|
| Floor | 7F | 2F |
| Size | about 600 tsubo | about 42 tsubo |
| Hours (October 2026) | Weekdays 11:00 to 20:00; weekends and holidays 10:00 to 21:00 | Weekdays 11:00 to 20:00; weekends and holidays 10:00 to 21:00 |
| What it sells | The full range, limited kits, the painting room | Gunpla and Gundam souvenirs, aimed at fans and tourists from Japan and abroad |
| Gunpla rules | One payment a day, one of each kit, ten in all | The same |
| Entry on 15 October 2026 | No wait | No wait |
The ANNEX is about a fourteenth of the size of the main shop. It is a quick stop for a souvenir or a well-known kit. For the limited kits, the displays and the painting room, go up to 7F.
The rule of one payment a day applies at each shop separately: the ANNEX page says one payment per person per day at each shop. If something has sold out upstairs, the ANNEX is worth a look, and the other way round.
Do you need a reservation or ticket for The Gundam Base Tokyo?
On most days, no. On the dates the shop names in advance, yes. For safety, the Tokyo shop runs an entry lottery with web numbered tickets on set dates, announced on its status page. There is no booking for ordinary days, and the notice does not mention any charge for entering the lottery.
These were the lottery dates and application windows on 15 October 2026:
Entry lottery dates, October 2026
- Friday 16, Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 October 2026: applications from Monday 5 October at 18:00 to Sunday 11 October at 23:59.
- Friday 23, Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 October 2026: applications from Monday 12 October at 18:00 to Sunday 18 October at 23:59 (planned).
- Normal entry area: on Saturday 17, Sunday 18 and Sunday 25 October, part of the shop is set aside as a normal entry area that anyone can enter, with or without a lottery win. Some items can be bought there too.
The pattern was the same for both weekends: applications open on a Monday evening and close at midnight on the Sunday before. Later dates are added to the same status page, so look there before you plan a weekend visit.
How the entry lottery works
- Apply on the official websitein the application window. You need an Apple ID or a Google account to apply.
- Wait for the result.A win cannot be passed on to anyone else.
- Look for cancelled placesif you lose. Places freed up by cancellations are released from two hours before each shop opens.
- Arrive 10 minutes early.Winners gather in front of the shop 10 minutes before their time.
- Bring photo ID.Staff may ask to see an official ID, and you will be turned away if the name does not match the winner's name exactly.
Weekday mornings: no waiting before 6:00
Some fans arrive very early. On weekdays, the 7th floor of DiverCity Tokyo Plaza closes at 6:00 in the morning, when a neighbouring business on the floor finishes for the night. You cannot wait in front of the shop before 6:00, and from 6:00 until the building has been cleaned nobody may go on to the floor at all. The floor then reopens, but the shop itself does not open until 11:00 on weekdays. The reopening time can move with the work on the lifts and escalators.
Gunpla buying rules at The Gundam Base
The purchase limits are the same at the Tokyo shop and the Tokyo ANNEX, and both shops print them in full.
These limits are for Gunpla only. Each shop may set its own limits on other goods too. The general status page adds two lines that matter for collectors: no sale dates have been set for re-released kits and the shop does not take questions about them, and it asks people not to come in to buy for resale or any other profit-making purpose.
Gundam Base limited Gunpla and prices
The official product list labels its limited kits in two ways, as Gundam Base limited or as event limited. The list on 15 October 2026 had 424 items. These are some from its first page, with prices including tax:
| Kit | Type | Price | Released |
|---|---|---|---|
| HG 1/144 Build Strike Gundam Full Package & Build Burning Gundam set [clear colour] | Event limited | 4,400 yen | 10 October 2026 |
| MG 1/100 Gundam Kyrios (Trans-Am mode) [metallic gloss injection] | Gundam Base limited | 5,830 yen | 19 September 2026 |
| ENTRY GRADE 1/144 Ξ½ Gundam [ukiyo-e package] | Event limited | 1,760 yen | 29 August 2026 |
| RG 1/144 Freedom Gundam Ver.GCP [clear colour] | Gundam Base limited | 4,400 yen | 22 August 2026 |
| RG 1/144 Akatsuki Gundam (Owashi pack) & HG 1/144 Zeus Silhouette set | Gundam Base limited | 16,500 yen | 8 August 2026 |
| RG 1/144 Wing Gundam Zero EW, APEX LEGENDS Valkyrie Ver. | Event limited | 4,400 yen | 25 July 2026 |
| MGSD Wing Gundam Zero EW [clear colour] | Gundam Base limited | 5,280 yen | 18 July 2026 |
| FULL MECHANICS 1/100 Gundam Aerial [clear colour] | Gundam Base limited | 4,730 yen | 18 July 2026 |
| HG 1/144 Ξ Gundam [clear colour], film release package | Event limited | 6,930 yen | 26 June 2026 |
| Best Mecha Collection 1/144 RX-78-2 Gundam (REVIVAL Ver.) [Gundam Base colour] | Gundam Base limited | 1,430 yen | 2 May 2026 |
| 1/1 Gunpla-kun DX set [painting model] | Gundam Base limited | 1,320 yen | 2 May 2026 |
The letters at the start of each name are the kit's grade, and the number after it is the scale. On this page, HG, RG and ENTRY GRADE kits are 1/144 and MG and FULL MECHANICS kits are 1/100, so an MG model stands taller than an HG model of the same suit.
Gundam Base goods and souvenirs
Not everything is a kit. The Gundam Base also sells its own goods, which make easy presents for someone who does not build models. All prices include tax.
Gundam Base goods
- Sweets: matcha and strawberry chocolate crunch, 864 yen each, and a box of chocolate chip cookies, 1,512 yen.
- Birthday key chain: 1,320 yen. It cost 1,100 yen before a price rise that began in stages in October 2026, and the timing can differ by shop.
- Runner T-shirts: 3,300 yen, in RX-78-2, Char's Zaku and Unicorn designs. The runner is the plastic frame that holds the parts of a kit.
- Local Haro mascots: a Tokyo, a Fukuoka and a Hokkaido version, 1,760 yen each. The product list shows each one only at the shops in its own area.
- Pakecolle (package collection): items based on kits such as the HGUC 1/144 RX-78-2 Gundam and the Gundam Exia, 1,210 yen, and two Gundam Base limited MG kits, 1,540 yen.
- Soft vinyl Haro: 990 yen in green. A mini towel is 770 yen.
Goods sell out as kits do. On 15 October 2026 the Tokyo local Haro, the runner T-shirts and the mini towel all showed out of stock in Tokyo.
The painting room at The Gundam Base Tokyo
The build room in Tokyo was closed on 15 October 2026, but the painting room was listed as a service of the shop. It is a paid space for painting Gunpla with an airbrush, and the page sets out what you can and cannot use.
You can stay as long as you like within your time slot, but on busy days time may be limited and you may not be able to extend. Only the person who registered at the counter can paint, although others can sit with them, and there is no refund if you leave early. The page does not give an hourly price, so ask at the counter.
Gundam Base membership and points
The Gundam Base runs a points card, but it is not much use to most visitors. The FAQ says only people with an address in Japan can join, and the card is a web membership card only, since 1 September 2023.
Gundam Base points, in short
- Earning: one point for every 200 yen you spend, including tax. Anything under 200 yen is not counted.
- Spending: points are swapped for gifts only at the counters of the Tokyo, Fukuoka and New Chitose shops, the satellite shops and GUNDAM SIDE-F.
- No gifts by post: gifts are not sent to your home.
- No expiry: the points do not run out.
Where else to buy Gunpla in Tokyo
The Gundam Base is the only place with its limited kits, but it is not the only place to buy Gunpla. If Odaiba is full, or you have already made your one payment of the day, these are the other options.
Akihabara Radio Kaikan: three shops in one building

Akihabara Radio Kaikan stands at 1-15-16 Sotokanda, Chiyoda-ku, and the building opens 10:00 to 20:00. Its shop guide lists plastic models at three of the shops inside. The floors and hours below are from that guide.
Gunpla at Akihabara Radio Kaikan
- AmiAmi, 4F: 11:00 to 20:00. The shop guide says it has more than 100,000 items.
- Yellow Submarine, 6F: 10:00 to 20:00.
- Jungle, 7F: 12:00 to 20:00 on weekdays, 11:00 to 20:00 at weekends and on public holidays.
- Nearby: our Akihabara shopping guide covers the other big shops in the area.
These are general hobby shops, not Bandai shops, so stock changes from day to day and the Gundam Base limits do not apply. For the figure shops elsewhere in the building, see our anime figures guide.
The Gundam Base Shibuya: opening November 2026

A notice of 9 September 2026 says The Gundam Base Shibuya will open on the 5th floor of Shibuya PARCO, 15-1 Udagawacho, Shibuya-ku, in November 2026. Bandai Spirits is behind the plan. The notice did not give an exact opening date, so look for one on the official site before you go.
Bandai Hobby Center in Shizuoka
Gunpla are made at the Bandai Hobby Center in Shizuoka City. Its museum for visitors, BHCPDII MUSEUM, has a shop with its own limited kits. It is a trip out of Tokyo, not a stop on the way.
The Gundam Base Tokyo vs Fukuoka, Kyoto and the other shops in Japan
Tokyo is the largest Gundam Base in Japan by the floor areas the operator gives, but it is not the only one. Here is how the shops compared on 15 October 2026.
| Shop | Where | Hours | Size |
|---|---|---|---|
| The Gundam Base Tokyo | DiverCity Tokyo Plaza 7F, Odaiba | 11:00β20:00 weekdays, 10:00β21:00 weekends | about 600 tsubo |
| The Gundam Base Fukuoka | Canal City Hakata, South Building 1F | 10:00β21:00 | about 248 tsubo |
| The Gundam Base New Chitose Airport | Domestic terminal 4F, Hokkaido | 9:00β19:00 | 70.5 tsubo |
| The Gundam Base Satellite Kyoto | AEON Mall KYOTO, Sakura building 4F | 10:00β21:00 | about 86 tsubo |
| The Gundam Base Satellite Nagoya | AEON Mall Nagoya Dome-mae 3F, inside namco | 10:00β21:00 | about 70 tsubo |
| The Gundam Base Sendai | Sendai PARCO1 7F | 10:00β20:00 | about 64 tsubo |
| The Gundam Base Hiroshima | AEON Mall Hiroshima Fuchu 3F | 10:00β21:00 | 81.8 tsubo |
| The Gundam Base Kanazawa | Kanazawa FORUS 4F, opened 31 October 2025 | 10:00β20:00 | 31.7 tsubo |
| GUNDAM SIDE-F | LaLaport Fukuoka 4F | 10:00β21:00 | β |

Tokyo vs Fukuoka. Fukuoka is the second largest at about 248 tsubo, and its page says entry is free. It has a build room, which was also paused on 15 October 2026, and on that day there was no wait. GUNDAM SIDE-F, a separate Gundam shop in LaLaport Fukuoka, sells its own limited kits, such as an RG Sazabi in clear colours at 8,910 yen. Whether the big Gundam statue in Fukuoka is still on show is covered in our anime travel guide.
Tokyo vs Kyoto. The Kyoto shop is a satellite, about a seventh of the size of Tokyo, in a shopping mall. It is handy if you are already in Kyoto, but the product list does not show stock for the satellite shops, so you cannot check limited kits there in advance.
New Chitose Airport is a good last stop on a Hokkaido trip, because it is inside the domestic terminal. Its page also says entry is free.
Coming next: The Gundam Base Osaka is planned for February 2027, about 371 tsubo on 11F of the LUCUA South building in Umeda. The notice calls it one of the largest in western Japan.
The Gundam Base outside Japan
If you live near one, your home shop may be easier than Tokyo. Bandai Hobby's list of shops worldwide, read on 15 October 2026, included these outside Japan:
The Gundam Base around the world
- Mainland China: 18 shops.
- South Korea: 9 shops.
- Rest of Asia: Taipei, Kai Tak in Hong Kong, Siam Center in Thailand, Jewel Changi in Singapore and fahrenheit88 in Malaysia.
- Europe and the US: DΓΌsseldorf, Stables Market in London and Rosemont in the Chicago area.
The Japanese product list read for this guide shows stock only for shops in Japan, so do not expect the same limited kits abroad.
Tax-free shopping at The Gundam Base
The Gundam Base pages read for this guide do not say whether the shops offer tax-free sales, so ask at the till before you pay and have your passport with you. Our tax-free shopping guide explains how the system works in Japan.
Is The Gundam Base Tokyo worth it?
For a Gunpla builder, yes. It has the limited kits, the displays and the painting room, and nowhere else in Tokyo has them all together. For someone who only wants a well-known kit, Akihabara may be quicker. A short guide:
Go to The Gundam Base Tokyo if
- You want a limited kitand the product list shows it in stock in Tokyo.
- You want to painta kit while you are in Japan.
- You have a free weekday, when there is usually no lottery and the shop opens at 11:00.
Odaiba is easy to pair with other sights. Our Rainbow Bridge guide covers the bridge and the Yurikamome ride over it, and our itinerary planner helps with the rest of the trip.
How to get to The Gundam Base Tokyo
The Gundam Base Tokyo is inside DiverCity Tokyo Plaza, 1-1-10 Aomi, Koto-ku, on the Odaiba waterfront. Two railway lines stop close by, and the shop's facility page gives these times.
Trains to The Gundam Base Tokyo
- Yurikamome to Daiba Station: 15 minutes from Shimbashi, where JR, Tokyo Metro and Toei lines meet, or 16 minutes from Toyosu on Tokyo Metro. Then a 5-minute walk.
- Rinkai Line to Tokyo Teleport Station: 6 minutes from Shin-Kiba, for JR and Tokyo Metro, or 10 minutes from Osaki on JR. Then a 3-minute walk from Exit B.

The Yurikamome crosses the Rainbow Bridge on its way into Odaiba, so it is the ride with the view. The Rinkai Line has the shorter walk at the end. The mall's own access page also lists routes by bus, car and boat.
If you plan to have your kits sent on rather than carry them, note one date: on Saturday 24 October 2026 the Tokyo shop will not take orders for its delivery service, because of large-scale road closures for the Tokyo Bay fireworks. For the bridge and the views from the train, see our Rainbow Bridge guide.
Frequently asked questions
Do you need a reservation for The Gundam Base Tokyo?
Only on the dates the shop names in advance. On those days entry is by lottery and web numbered ticket, applied for online with an Apple ID or Google account. On other days you can usually walk in, although the shop may hand out numbered tickets at the door when it is busy.
Is entry to The Gundam Base Tokyo free?
The Tokyo pages read for this guide do not mention an entry charge, and the pages for the Fukuoka and New Chitose Airport shops say entry is free. The painting room inside the Tokyo shop is a paid service.
What are The Gundam Base Tokyo opening hours?
In October 2026, 11:00 to 20:00 on weekdays and 10:00 to 21:00 at weekends and on public holidays. The ANNEX on 2F keeps the same hours. Hours can change for stocktakes and other reasons, so check the status page on the day.
How many Gunpla can you buy at The Gundam Base?
One payment per person per day at each shop, with one of each kit and ten kits at most. You cannot queue again to pay a second time, and other goods may have limits of their own.
Is the life-size Unicorn Gundam still in Odaiba?
No. The statue outside DiverCity Tokyo Plaza was taken off display on 31 August 2026. The Gundam Base shops inside the building are still open.
Which is better, The Gundam Base Tokyo or the ANNEX?
The main shop on 7F, at about 600 tsubo, has the limited kits, the displays and the painting room. The ANNEX on 2F is about 42 tsubo and sells Gunpla and souvenirs. Visit 7F first and use the ANNEX for anything that has sold out upstairs.
Can tourists join The Gundam Base points programme?
Usually not. The FAQ says membership is only for people with an address in Japan, on a web membership card, and gifts can be collected only at the shop counters.
Is there a Gundam Base in Shibuya or Osaka?
Not yet. Both are planned: a shop on 5F of Shibuya PARCO from November 2026, and a bigger one on 11F of the LUCUA South building in Osaka's Umeda from February 2027.
